Sunrise’s United Methodist Men will be selling fresh produce on the south side of the church every other Sunday morning. Sale dates are August 12 and 26, and September 9 and 23. UMM has reusable produce bags and will distribute them (one per family) on a first come-first served based. They appreciate your support!
It’s been six months since we started CarePortal at Sunrise. CarePortal links the Department of Human Services with the church through e-mails to help meet the needs of the children in their care. The needs are great! Sunrise has 42 persons or families signed up. So far, we have fielded 537 requests, responded to 20 and helped fulfill 11, helping 23 children at an estimated economic impact of $6942.59. We could use more help. To sign up, fill out a card at the Welcome Desk and drop it in the CarePortal box. Go to careportal.org for more information. If you don’t want to receive e-mails, you can still help. Most needs are gas cards, bus passes, groceries, car seats, booster seats, cribs, and beds of all sizes. If you have any of these items or know of someone getting rid of these items, contact Annette Grundmeier at firstname.lastname@example.org. One way to help both Sunrise and CarePortal would be to buy grocery cards here at Sunrise and use them to meet grocery or gas requests for CarePortal. Just think, if we had 100 participants and everyone answered just one request a year, what an impact we could make!
We are over halfway to our goal of $1000 to replace the broken water fountain and we have one more bathroom (the ladies’ room downstairs in the back hall) to give the beautiful facelift with new flooring, paint, and mirrors. Your donation in the offering plate, through the Sunrise app, or even US Mail would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact any member of the Board of Trustees or Teri Alcorn at email@example.com.
This is the perfect time to give choir or orchestra at Sunrise a try. Their first rehearsal of the season is on Wednesday, August 15, and they would love to include you. Please email Nate at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.

The 24th Annual Sunrise Golf Tournament will be played on Saturday, August 25. This is a fun event for golfers of all ages and abilities. It will be held again at Cherokee Ridge Golf Course and will begin promptly at noon with a shotgun start on the par 3 nine. Players will then transition to the regulation nine and finish on the par 3. A light lunch will follow and prizes will be awarded to the best teams as well as individual prizes for men and women for longest drive and closest to the pin. Got questions, see Roy Thomas or call him at 719-598-3116. All proceeds benefit Youth Missions.
Sign up time is here again! Sunday, August 26, and Sunday, September 2 look in the atrium for signup sheets for classes, life groups, confirmation, Trunk or Treat at Fall Festival, and so many other ways to get involved with your church community. Look through the booklet “How Do I Get Involved At Sunrise?” for the day, time, and activity that God is calling you to and then come sign up! Send questions directly to leaders listed in the book or to Teri Alcorn at email@example.com.
