We'd love for you to participate in one of our classes or events detailed below.

CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING

There will be a Church Council meeting Sunday, September 16, at 12:15pm in room 203/204.  Topics will include an update on current church projects and programs, as well as a brief discussion of the new Mountain Sky Conference and the ongoing Commission on the Way Forward, which has submitted its final report on the three proposed plans of how to respond as a Global Church to the LGBTQ issue.  These plans will be voted on at the Special Session of General Conference next February.

CONCERT AND HYMN SING

There will be a free Concert and Hymn Sing with George Millholland and Friends on Sunday, September 16, at 3:00pm.  Please consider bringing a non-perishable food item to donate to Mercy’s Gate Food Pantry.

STEP BY STEP SUCCESS!

Our broken water fountain will be replaced thanks to the generosity of all of you who are giving to the Trustees’ Step by Step campaign to upgrade our old building!  Our summer has seen 4 out of 5 bathrooms receiving a beautiful facelift and we are only $1480 away from finishing that large step project.  Our next small step project will be $600 to provide the Fellowship Hall with a first-time-ever light board for the audio/visual booth.  Thank you for your continued support!  If you have any questions, please contact any Trustee or Chairman Chris Morse at 719-660-6166 or cmorse73@gmail.com.

LADIES’ BOOK CLUB

All women are invited to join us as we restart book club after a summer break.  Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 19, 1:00-3:00pm in room 203/204.  Our book for September is Sarah’s Key, by Tatiana de Rosnay.  Join us for a lively, casual discussion and sharing.  There are copies of the book available if desired.  Contact Gloria Shryock at rocknglo@comcast.net for additional information.

MUGGED FOR MISSION – A UMW CHALLENGE

How many mugs do you own?  Count and donate 50 cents for each.  Find the mug in the Atrium to accept the challenge and make a donation by Sunday, September 23.  Funds received from this challenge go to United Methodist Women’s Missions.

UPDATE FROM UNITED METHODIST MEN

Sunday, September 23, is the last day for veggie sales, pumpkin sales are almost here, and with pumpkins come Christmas greens!  Orders for greens will be accepted on Sundays, October 14 through November 4.  The greens will arrive the week after Thanksgiving.  Come support your UMM and their mission of supporting the Church.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE UPDATE

Some major issues were addressed at the 2018 session of Annual Conference.    These issues were the merger of the Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone Conferences into the new Mountain Sky Conference and the ongoing Commission on a Way Forward, which has submitted its final report on the three proposed plans of how to respond as a Global Church to the LGBTQ issue.  These plans will be voted on at the Special Session of General Conference next February.  Elizabeth Anderson and Rick Hunt are our delegates and they will host a discussion on 3Sunday, September 23, at noon in Wesley Chapel.

TABLES OF EIGHT

For good food and fellowship, sign up to participate in Tables of Eight on Friday, October 5.  The Host (or Host Couple) provides the home, main dish, and beverages.  The other attendees are assigned a dish to bring.  Sign-up sheets are in the Friendship Folders, at the Sign-up Counter in the atrium, and outside the Admin Office on 2nd floor.  Call Cindy at 719-282-0424 with questions.  This event is held on the first Friday of each month.

A GIFT TO KENYA METHODIST UNIVERSITY

The Sunrise Community will offer a gift to Kenya Methodist University on World Communion Sunday, October 7.  The funds will be used to purchase goods and services in Kenya to put money into the Kenyan economy and to avoid shipping costs.  Please prayerfully consider what gift you can contribute.  Envelopes are available at the Welcome Desk if you would like to make a donation TODAY.  Together we can make a significant impact (Acts 1:8).

SAVE THE DATE

There will be a KEMUDA Benefit Concert in the Sunrise sanctuary at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 7.  The theme for this concert is Musical Theatre.  More info to come.
