The Middle School Retreat will be held February 1-3 at Silver Cliff Ranch in Nathrop. This retreat will be an eye-opening weekend in which students find out how to fuel their relationship with God. Games, food, tubing, swimming, amazing worship, and small group time are provided to make the weekend a life-changing experience. The Missions Team is grateful to the congregation for their generous donations during the winter clothing drive in December. Donations of 130 coats, jackets, and sweatshirts and multiple bags of hats, scarves, and gloves were distributed to More than a Meal, Springs Rescue Mission, Teens with Promise, Ecumenical Social Ministries, Mercy’s Gate, and High Plains Elementary School. Special thank you to the knitters and crocheters for their donations of throws, hats, gloves, and scarves.
In December, two awesome ladies were selected to receive the United Methodist Women’s Special Mission Recognition. This award is given to recognize people who have worked behind the scenes or in organizational or leadership positions on mission projects that have benefited people in the church and community.
Vi Gregory was recognized for her many years of service as Treasurer of the Sunrise UMW. She has served in this capacity since 2006, managing all UMW donations, pledges, bills, budgets, and much more. She is always willing to help in many other capacities in UMW. Thank you, Vi, for your faithful service!
Marty Allison was also recognized for her wonderful outreach to veterans. She and the Piece Keepers Quilt Group presented members of Sunrise who are veterans with beautiful quilts, each representing their branch of service. In addition, the Piece Keepers bless others in the community who are hospitalized or in recovery with their beautiful hand-made quilts. Thanks to Marty and the Piece Keepers for lifting the spirits of many in our community!
